A tree’s year rings are analysed for their strength, thickness and rate of growth. This data serves as basis for a generative process that outputs piano music. It is mapped to a scale which is again defined by the overall appearance of the wood (ranging from dark to light and from strong texture to light texture). read more

Photographer David «Takashi» Favrod, was born on the 2nd of July 1982 in Kobe, Japan, of a Japanese mother and a Swiss father. When he was 6 months old, his parents decided to move and live in Switzerland, more precisely in Vionnaz, a little village in lower Valais. As his father had to travel for his work a lot, David was mainly brought up by his mother who taught him her principles and her culture. read more

Artengine is a local arts group that produces technologically based presentations. As part of their Electric Fields program, “I recently attended Swim Sound – a sound performance at a municipal pool. A percussionist played on a floating platform, while a knob twiddler tweaked and tweezed the inputs coming from drum mics and a couple underwater mics. Too fun with an encore performance possibly happening in the spring!” read more
