Toshio Shibata explores the delicate balance and powerful juxtapositions between the landscape and the infinite ability of man to impose structure on that landscape. Seen through Shibata’s large-format camera and wide-angle lenses, colossal industrial structures confuse our sense of mass and volume, and our ability to orient the subject in relation to human scale.

Las Palmas has already gained world reputation through a trailer more successful than any Hollywood Blockbusters. With his shorts Johannes has been awarded with innumerable prizes at film festivals around the world. He runs his own production company, Joclo.

Lynn Silverman

Born in 1952, Photographer Lynn Silverman received her BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and her MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths’ College in London, England. She has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Australia, and the United States. In addition to publishing four books, her work may be found in public collections in the Australia and Great Britain. She currently teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.

Karl Blossfeldt

Karl Blossfeldt’s training began with the study of industrial arts and design at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Berlin. In 1890, along with five other students, Blossfeldt received a scholarship to work in Rome with one of the instructors, Mortiz Meurer. Meurer assigned him the job of casting models of botanical specimens, ultimately to be used by industrial craftsmen and manufacturers. read more

Paul Schiek

Born in 1977 in Fond du Lac, WI, Paul Schiek received a BFA in photography from California College of the Arts and Crafts in 2005, after which he started the publishing company TBW Books. Since then, Schiek’s work has been shown both in the US and internationally. His work has also been the subject of many books and publications. He is represented by the Stephen Wirtz Gallery and currently lives and works in Oakland, CA.
