Highly atmospheric documentary following ex-Paratrooper and renowned social photographer Stuart Griffiths as he travels across England uncovering the stories behind the shocking and often devastating military statistics, will be shown in the atmospheric Jersey War Tunnels at Branchage – Jersey International Film Festival 2009
Accompanied by a live soundtrack the documentary is an impressionistic portrait of an emotional and physical aftermath of war, as we learn that a quarter of British ex-soldiers sleep rough when they return home. This bold and moving film explores those personal demons and uncertain futures faced by those soldiers.
Phil Ilson, Programmer of Branchage, explains the importance of screening the film: “Isolation focuses on a really serious political subject, but presents it in a highly artistic yet accessible way. The subject matter is very relevant at a time when so many British soldiers are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, many of whom return to the UK and have trouble re-adapting to ‘normal’ life”.
Isolation is the debut feature film of East London filmmakers Luke Seomore and Joseph Bull (previously featured on File issue 1), who have worked together on critically acclaimed short films and music videos.
