Bröderna Lejonhjärta/The Brothers Lionheart (1977) Directed by Olle Hellbom
My mother was a teacher. Sometimes me and my brother went with her to her school in the evenings if she had to prepare some things for the next day. While she was working me and my brother saw Bröderna Lejonhjärta (The Brothers Lionheart) – the only VHS-tape at the school. It was the first time I cried to a movie. We saw it a lot of times, but I haven’t seen it since. I remember it as a really great film and an amazing soundtrack!
Waterworld (1995) Directed by Kevin Reynolds
When it was released me and my brother saw it almost every day after school. I just saw it again a week ago. Even though the story and acting sucks, I still find the look and atmosphere really great.
Irreversible (2002) Directed by Gasper Noé
I saw it the first time when I was 19 and had just finished high school. At that time I was still living with my parents. To get enough money to move from home I was working at a TV-set factory. I worked in the evenings, and one day I got home from the factory at midnight I saw it alone in my room in totally darkness. Pretty rough experience for a young man. But it changed my idea of what films are capable of doing to you.
Sigur Rós – Untitled 1 (aka Vaka) Directed by Floria Sigismondi (2003)
The video for “Untitled 1 (aka Vaka)” from Sigur Rós album “( )” (2003), is the first music video that really moved me. After a trip to Iceland my father brought me a Sigur-EP. In addition to the tracks the EP contained the video. I still really love both the track and the video. Maybe because the track has done something to my subconsciousness while I once was drugged up. I was at the hospital to get my lungs checked. While the nurse drugged me I heard the song in my headphones. Pretty trippy experience…
Battle in Heaven/Batalla En El Cielo (2005) Directed by Carlos Reygadas
I saw it at a screening presented by Harmony Korine. I hadn’t heard about the film before but it totally blew me away. The story, the pictures and the totally lack of new puritanism.
Water City (2010) Directed by Martin De Thura
Martin De Thure made this short movie for the Danish pavilion EXPO Shanghai 2010 – a really different way to introduce Copenhagen – the city I’ve been living in for five years now.
Your Blind Passenger (2010) By Olufur Eliasson
This is an installation from the project UTOPIA at Arken (Museum for Modern Art in Denmark). Reminds me of A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick. I would really like to do a project with Olufur Eliasson some day.
