Book covers mounted on wood by New York-based artist, Neil Powell.
“Through my work with discarded book covers, I attempt to take the themes of relatedness and identity further to explore entirely new social, cultural and political narratives. The juxtaposition of old and new through the composition of new art out of old book covers offers those voices a chance to speak to one another to form an alternative approach to meaning. I like the visitor to enter a scatological world of language, typography, and illustration styles that captures the eye and demands it to move back and forth among layers of meaning that form a non-linear narrative. I aim for my art to culminate in a visual treatise on the recycling and renewal of popular culture.”_Neil Powell
