Canadian-born artist, Alice Gibney, received her BFA from OCAD in Toronto, Ontario. In 2012 she completed her MFA at Parsons the New School for Design in New York City. Although her primary medium is drawing, Gibney also works in stop-animation and short video as a way to further explore the strange sides of her imagination. Her women are strange and bizarre, often comical in appearance. Armed with pillows, deflated balloons, and Groucho Marx glasses, her characters teeter between self-assurance and self doubt. They are bold yet delicate, silly but somber.
