Aurel Schmidt was born in Kamloops, Canada. She makes detailed drawings of landscapes and surreal figures, combining tiny illustrations of flies, insects, bones, cigarette butts and other detritus to create the larger image. She uses a mixture of pencil and paint. She has exhibited in galleries such as Peres Projects in Los Angeles, Deste Foundation Centre for Contemporary Art in Athens and Studio Bee, Maison Daikanyama 2F in Tokyo. read more
