Florentijn Hofman

This months Mixtape has been compiled by the very colour and playful Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman. Some of you might be familiar with his giant rubber duck measuring 26 meter in height which first was set to drift at the Loire river in France but then made its way across the world; Japan, Brazil, Germany to name a few countries.
Another eye catching project is Zirkus Zeppelin which he designed the corporate identity for, one can’t do anything else than smile when you see Hofman wearing his pilot outfit and top hat.
In 2006 during the fifth anniversary of Schiermonnikoog’s International Chamber Festival the beach of the Dutch Island in the Wadden Sea was marked with three grand pianos, they referred to stranded cargo and whales; salvaged or saved. Visitors were spotted picnicking and relaxing on the timber-clad structures, make sure to see the images on Hofman’s website.

As you listen to this Mixtape Florentijn is buliding a 12 meter tall wooden rabbit where the visitor can climb up and have a view out through its eyes, in production is also 5 “paper” boats measuring 7 meters in length and 4 meters in height as well as a 10 meter tall bear in concrete holding a pillow.
