A selection of work as well as an essay by Swiss artist Fabio Marco Pirovino.

The Simple Work of Art

the simple work of art is not simple.

a simple work of art should be timeless, effortless, new, provocative and compelling.

a simple work of art should have style.

the simple work of art is an ideal.

form and content coincide.

viewers are thrown back on themselves.

the simple work of art needs to relate to a room / place

reduction is an importent constituent.

extras are omitted but retained inside the work.

beginning and end are close together.

a simple work of art takes its cue from classical, formal solutions.

a simple work of art should not look laboured.

the simple work of art tells no stories.

the simple work of art is not a means of representing current events. it is past, present and future but not news

failure is immanent in the process
