The “Salaryman Project” by Tokyo based French photographer Bruno Quinquet is an attempt to build mystery and poetry around the archetypal figure of the Japanese male office worker, aka salaryman. In the sixteenth century, Flemish court painter to the British Crown Hans Holbein the Younger (1497-1543) gave us the imposingly regal portrait of Henry VIII now kept in London’s Royal Portrait Gallery. Michał Smandek was born in 1981 in Ruda Śląska. He lives and works in Świętochłowice, Poland. Between 2001-2007 he studied at the sculpture faculty of the Department of Artistic Education at Silesian University.
