Employing a bold compositional rigor with a densely layered set of Surrealist strategies, Jordan Kasey’s psychological paintings reveal contradictory conditions of dream and reality by way of metaphor and association. Through strident colors, irrational shadows, undulating surfaces, and physically encompassing canvases, Kasey brings the viewer into a subtly shifting world that is at once anonymous and universal. The continuation of her mise-enscènes beyond the confines of the canvas suggest silent spaces and uneasy encounters that extend and suspend time.
