Baptiste Debombourg

Polybric is an educational and entertaining construction game allowing both boys and girls to assemble and build as they wish, with imagination and creativity. The piece was in a real public toilet and was functional for a couple of days. Some great projects are to be found on French artist Baptiste Debombourg’s website.

Gebhard Sengmüller

“A Parallel Image” is an electronic camera obscura created by Austrian artist Gebhard Sengmüller. This media-archaeological, interactive sculpture is based on the fictive assumption that the currently still valid principle of electronically transmitting moving images, namely by breaking them down into single images and image lines, was never discovered. The result is an apparatus that attempts a highly elaborate parallel transmission of every single pixel from sender to receiver. www.gebseng.com

I have always been intrigued and fascinated by American artist and film maker Joshua Callaghan’s mix of wit and dark humor in his work which often is critical towards the American material culture and mass production. Callaghan’s art has been exhibited at venues including the UC Riverside Sweeney Gallery, the Guggenheim Gallery of Chapman University, and his videos at museums and festivals internationally. read more
