The MFA in Design Criticism at the School of Visual Arts is an innovative two-year program trains students to research, analyze, and evaluate design and its social and environmental implications. Shown here is a lecture with Rick Poynor, “Curating ‘Uncanny: Surrealism and Graphic Design”. Rick Poynor is a British writer on design, graphic design, typography and visual culture.

Eva Eun-Sil Han was born in Korea where she lived for 27 years.. She was first introduced to collage in primary school. As a child she loved to play with papers, like “drawing paper, paper dolls, cutting them out, making their outfits.” She studied for two years at the Design Institute of Graphic Art in Seoul, Korea and one year at the L’Atelier d’Art de la Grange des Champs, Belgium. read more

Alejandra Villasmil paints, draws and collages over vintage magazine covers. The personalities that don the covers, even if you could somehow recognize them, are lost forever as all or most of the individual features are hidden under the applied media. Villasmil is commenting as much on the way fame is manufactured, as it is fleeting. read more

A2-Type is a new type foundry set up by the London based design studio A2/SW/HK. Established to release and distribute over a decade’s worth of specially crafted typefaces the foundry offers access to a unique collection of fonts.

Gustavo Eandi (born in 1981, Mar del Plata, Argentina), He’s heavily influenced by black and white photocopies, Hardcore 80s records covers, street Typography, Logos and badly made graffiti. He worked as an illustrator for many artists such as Damo Suzuki (CAN), Victoria Mil, Madlib, J.Rocc, Arnau Sala, Adam Freeland and the swiss duo Smash FX, among others. read more
