David Jien drawings depict a vertiginous temporal reality, alternating between the dawn of a folkloric world when mythological creatures still walked amongst men, and an unknown future in which aliens have finally reached contact. There is an overarching sense of fantasy, of going There and Back Again on an episodic quest. “My drawings are about a alternate reality, based on real life experiences. Siobhan McClure is a Irish born, Los Angeles based artist. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 1994 with an MFA in Drawing and Painting. McClure’s paintings have been exhibited since 1994 all over California and in both Spain and Ireland. The Tale of Pearl is her first solo show at Richard Heller Gallery. read more

Christian Faur

Christian Faur painstakingly casts hundreds, even thousands of encaustic crayons to create his ‘pointillist’ portraits based on vintage photographs from the 1930’s. By using the pointed ends of the variously colored crayons to make the features and color modulations in the faces and backgrounds, the works look from afar pixilated and contemporary. Close up, a matrix of colors emerge, as the identity, which is lost to begin with, is completely lost. read more
