Living in Mumbai, I became fascinated with the photographic conventions of the exotic and of travel. The much-maligned crows of the city gather in the hundreds at sunset each night, moving constantly and loudly between telephone wires, rooftops, and any available perches. The crows are an integral part of Mumbai life, and yet do not figure within the conventional picturesque nor within the frameworks of conventional landscape.
