The Boo Hooray Gallery (c/o Steven Kasher Gallery, NYC) is opening an exhibition of punk ephemera from writer Jon Savage and artist Linder Sterling, both of whom were closely associated with the UK punk scene.

The Secret Public presents original collages, posters, flyers and ephemera from the Buzzcocks, Joy Division, Magazine, and Factory Records circa 1977-1980. Also included are Jon Savage’s photographs of urban decay in London and Manchester circa 1977/1978, and photographs by Linder Sterling taken at underground transvestite parties in Manchester at the club Mr. Dickens, circa 1976.

The Secret Public is curated by writer and collector Johan Kugelberg, who is currently working with Jon Savage on a new punk anthology for publication in 2011 through Rizolli. You may recall Johan Kugelberg collaborated with Ralph Rugoff on Hayward’s May 68 exhibition.
