Carpet Paintings by Antonio Santin

In these fascinating carpet paintings, spanish artist Antonio Santin, weaves together marvelous Oriental designs, hinting at early Muslim and Mozarab arabesques found in medieval southern Spain. This important Islamic lineage in Spanish culture is evident in the grainy textural fabrics.
These paintings are currently on show at the art gallery Marc Straus in New York, until 29 September.
