The Manipulator (1984-1994) will see the light of day again in June 2010 when a new and longly awaited issue will be launched from Copenhagen. The 50x70cm grand magazine featured in its heydays handtinted images taken in Japanese brothels in the the late 1800s, sepia-toned shots of Spanish bullfighters and murky photographs from the albums of the Victorian Egyptologists. I can’t wait for June 2010.

Tomaselli’s paintings include medicinal herbs, prescription pills and hallucinogenic plants alongside images cut from books and magazines: flowers, birds, butterflies, arms, legs and noses, which are combined into dazzling patterns that spread over the surface of the painting like a beautiful virus or growth. He uses an explosion of color and combines it with a basis in art history. read more

The indie rock band Modest Mouse is getting the royal treatment from Bent Image Lab’s new director/partner Nando Costa. Heavily rooted in live-action, the impressive six-minute video includes intense moments of stop motion, visual effects, and motion graphics techniques, all brought to life within the studio’s walls.

Based on his ideas on transposition and movement the artist Peter Jansen uses shapes of the human body to create energetic spaces. In his earlier works he focused on open spaces, created almost free of matter and weight. In his recent sculptures he captures sequences of human movements in space and time, in a single frame.
