This hidden gem in Salford is home to lots of Manchester's artists, designers, illustrators and makers — and I include myself in that bunch of creative folk. There are frequent exhibitions, workshops and other events taking place inside this old cotton mill. I think it was around last summer I started frequenting an open mic here. It was every Saturday for a long time. I met a ton of good musicians and great people here, so if you are in the area when they have an open mic you should check it out. Oh yeah, and they have coffee too.

De Waaghals (= The Dare-devil) is a very nice vegetarian restaurant. The atmosphere is informal, but the food is very nice, refined and creative. Organic ingredients are used as much as possible. Each month a dish focuses on a different country.

Jordan Bruner is an artist and filmmaker whose work encompasses painting, print-making, ceramics and animated films. Her work has been exhibited at CADAF Miami and she’s created multiple installations with MTA Arts and Design program in NYC. Her animated films have been shown at festivals worldwide including Pictoplasma and the LA Film Festival, and her illustration work has been honored by the Society of Illustrators and American Illustration. Jordan also works as an art + animation director for clients such as the NYTimes, Google, Eve Ensler, the Atlantic and Warby Parker. In 2013 she was the recipient of the Art Director’s Club Young Guns Award. Jordan lives in Richmond, VA with her husband Zack, cat Pablo, and whippets Zucchini and Cezar.
