I read that the design of Central Park's curving spaces was a Romantic counter to the geometry of Enlightenment-era gardens. I heard this design was influenced by landscape painting, where its foreground, middleground, and background constantly shift as you walk the paths. I find new pockets and features every time I'm there. One of my favorite spots is with the Central Park Dance Skaters, a group that roller skates in circles all day to vintage electro funk. These characters generously lend you the feeling of being in your own 1980's New York film.

When most people think of Croatia, they think of southern Croatia, areas near Split and Dubrovnik. In 2015, I went to Istria in northern Croatia where the tourism isn't as widely settled yet. Of course, there's still some tourism going on, but there's a different, more genuine feeling to Istria. And if you dig in to their history, you will notice there's so much Istria can tell you. Rovinj is a small city located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, a popular tourist resort, an active fishing port and definitely one of the most picturesque cities around the Mediterranean. Hop on to a boat from Pula and visit Rovinj for a day tour, or spend a night in the town at a private accommodation. Stroll around the narrow alleys and just enjoy all the pastel architecture. Then, I can recommend having some local sea food for dinner, which is the Adriatic speciality.

The Museum takes its name from its creator, one of the most famous Italian antiquarian of the late nineteenth century, who after years of intense commercial activity, decided to transform his collection into a museum and donate it to the City of Florence in 1922. Stefano Bardini was a famous art dealer who collected objects of different periods and of high quality. Bardini contributed to spreading the myth of the Italian Renaissance throughout the world and showed great interest in all forms of art, which is one of the reasons to visit the collections: over 2000 pieces including sculptures, paintings, furniture pieces, ceramic pieces, tapestries and objects from ancient art to the eighteenth century. It's also possible to admire some fragments of the old centre of Florence, salvaged before destruction. Inside the museum, everything is on display as it was at the time when Stefano Bardini worked as an antique dealer. The pieces are not grouped by historical period, but are put on display according to the taste of Bardini, so as to better accentuate the beauty of the pieces. Even the building itself is remarkable for its use of doors, windows and the fact that many of the room are painted in a bright electric blue. It doesn't usually appear in the guides (so it's not crowded) and you'll never find it on the MUST VISIT museum list, but it's worth a visit. The visit (depending on whether you are running or deciding to take it easy) takes approximately between 1h and 2:30.

Olga Feshina is an artist fascinated with new technologies and gadgets. She investigates contemporary girls obsessed with tech gadgets and explores their gestures and poses in relation to these objects.  She depicts the inner child of new tech girls as baby deer with a VR headset who is stunned in admiration and mesmerized with the perfection of the virtual world like all of us. Olga Feshina grew up in Kazakhstan, where she trained as a fashion and costume designer. She attended Karaganda Art School and focused on painting and photography. Later, she studied contemporary costume design at Kazakh National Academy of Arts in Almaty. Among her many design accolades, she created the world’s first sporting uniform for chess—a commission from the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Her training as a designer has heavily influenced her painting style, which includes formal elements of cartoons and digital illustrations. In 2013, the interdisciplinary creative practitioner moved to New York. Feshina has been featured in a number of notable publications, such as W Magazine, Esquire, FAD Magazine, Women Love Tech, Wallpaper, ELLE, and L'Officiel. She has had solo exhibitions at Gallery Tvorchestvo (Moscow); the Shchusev Museum of Architecture (Moscow); Paris sur Mode (Paris); and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. Most recently, she exhibited works from “New Tech Girls” at Google’s offices in New York and at a booth for NYAFAIR in Tribeca. -------------------------- On the photo: Olga Feshina at her solo exhibition New Tech Girls - VR Friends at Google New York Jun 18 - Apr 30 2019

I'm living my dream of working as a freelance illustrator in the San Francisco area, where the redwood forests, dramatic cliffs, and occasional whale tails are a source of constant inspiration. My first book, 'Wendell the Narwhal' was published by Simply Read Books last year. Clients include Penguin Random House, Usborne, American Greetings, The Seattle Symphony, and others. As a certified California Naturalist, I hope to use illustration as a tool to educate and inspire others to fall in love with the natural world.
