Tiny wine bar and store in Milan's Chinatown area, selling wine by the bottle and by the glass, alongside small plates/snacks. Friendly staff and great selection of wine. Always popular so be prepared to stand!

One of the last untapped areas of downtown Manhattan. Hand pulled noodles, cheap eats, and a concentrated area of families make this an often interesting place to explore.

This venue has been a host to some of the best underground nights in Leeds and of course by day it is a community centre. I don't know how to put it to words what makes this place special to me, it just is. Subdub which used to be hosted at the WIC had a vibe like no other. The Iration Steppas sound system is one of the loudest sound systems I have ever encountered. If you ever get the chance to go to a SubDub, make sure you take a pair of earplugs.

Ember Hostel is located in Cap Hill just a short walk from the state capitol, downtown bars and an awesome music scene. Capitol Hill was once the home of Denver’s elite and today consists of historic mansions, such as this. Ember Hostel was certainly an experience above all expectations. The mansion is decorated in retro style with so many details to look at. If you want to hang out at the lounge to perhaps get some work done, choose any of the many corners to curl up in. They also provide supplementary coffee, tea and fresh water. You can choose to stay in the dorm room, consisting of 16 bunkbeds, or you can stay at the private deluxe room for 2 with a queen bed. When you've found your buddy travellers, grab them all and jump in to the 10-people jacuzzi at the backyard. Or sit by the fireplace and drink beers and chit-chat. The staff is so friendly and at your service 24/7. They helped us with lots of local tips to restaurants, breakfast places and bars. Again, this was definitely over all expectations and I can definitely recommend staying here if you visit Denver.

Not my casual pick for a cocktail night but it's definitely worth going. The drinks are really good and the location is quiet nice since it's inside an old bank vault.

Smack in the middle of tourist district and right on the border of the red light district. My good friend (and super talented photographer Qiu Yang, check it out folks!) is part of the furniture there and because of him, we - his friends - are allowed to order outside of the menu. So none of that westernized mild gruel, but the real spicy tongue-numbing-deal. Before going out to parties, after gallery openings or just when we’re hungry, our bunch always gathers there. Good times!

At the top of a hill on Cathedral street downtown, we find the central branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, Baltimore's public library system. Always open to the public, even without a library pass, it is like a great and beautiful sanctuary. Some of my best thinking has taken place in the humanities wing reading room. It is, after all, one of the few places in the city devoted exclusively, and uninhibitedly, to thinking.
