Wolfgang Landauer - Wiesbaden

Wolfgang Landauer was born near Munich in 1987. Most of his work is based within the fields of typography and photography. After finishing the Bachelor of Arts in Würzburg he is now doing his final Master degree in Mainz. His last freelance job brought him to New York where he was able to work for the magazine "Man of the World". Besides an internship at the "grafisches Büro" and "liga: graphic design" in Vienna his last trip to New York was his greatest experience so far. Wolfgang will leave Wiesbaden in 2014 and wants to explore a new city for career. His bachelor thesis shows the poetic way of his designing. This final publication is made in the form of an oversized broadsheet newspaper. Just cast an eye on his portfolio!

 

Opelbad (Swimming Pool)

Surrounded by hillside vineyards and an expansive forest, the Opelbad is one of Wiesbaden's loveliest leisure facilities. Privy Councilor Dr. Wilhelm von Opel funded the construction of this magnificent summer pool on Wiesbaden's own hill, Neroberg, in 1934. This historical swimming pool designed in the clear Bauhaus style offers pleasant water temperatures of at least 24 degrees Celsius, while modern solar technology keeps the water at a constant temperature.

Nordfriedhof (Cemetery)

Following an ancient tradition, many people that are left behind do plant Life Trees near the tombstone. While the years pass, these trees grow to an amazing Size. Because of its worthy tree population, this Cemetery not only is a quality burial site but also serves as recreational space for the many visitors. Because of its architectural planning and amazing scenery of artful tombs, this Cemetery was put under monumental protection.

Museum Wiesbaden (Museum)

The Museum consists of two parts. The historical nature collection and the art collection. The Museum exhibits more than 100 works of the Russian painter Alexej von Jawlensky, the most important Jawlensky collection in the world. In addition to the works of Jawlensky, installations, objects, sculptures and paintings from the latter half of the 20th century are focal points of the art collection. Moreover, this museum regularly organizes noteworthy special exhibitions of international contemporary art.

Walhalla Studio Theater (Cinema) (Theater) (Music Venue)

The Walhalla Studio Theater opened in 1897. It is an entertainment venue that stages a variety of events throughout the year. Live music, theater, cinema, art expositions, dance shows and an interesting array of gigs are held here. It features interesting and entertaining performances every week. The wallpapers of the cinema represent the faded charm of the house which is under monument protection.
