Nancy / Museum

The Musée de l'École de Nancy is a museum devoted to the "École de Nancy", an artistic movement founded in 1901. The museum, opened in 1964, it has a wonderful garden, an aquarium pavilion, and the main building contains works by all the major "Art Nouveau" artists from Nancy. Exposed collections are made of rooms decorated in "Art Nouveau" style, filled with atypical objects of art designed by leading representatives of this french artistic movement.

I have just recently finished a project installing a drawing for artist Alan Johnston onto the ceiling of the Tate Britain. The experience, although being somewhat taxing on peoples health with long hours and difficult working conditions was fantastic. The mediative and mind altering drawing practice that Alan has created combined with the enthusiasm of a team of talented individuals has resulted in what can be considered a great work of art. It will be open to the public later this year.

Athens / Cemetery

The First Cemetery of Athens, also known as the Cemetery of the Athenians, is one of the oldest and most historic cemeteries in Athens, Greece. It was established in 1837 and was the first organized cemetery of the modern Greek state. It is located in the central Athens neighborhood of Mets, near the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Panathenaic Stadium. This place is amazing. It's a short walk from our apartment and has an amazing happy hour including cheap guacamole and $4 margaritas. We can spend an hour or five hours here at a time because the environment is so casual, welcoming, and the food is just damn good. Get the lengua or the camaron al mojo de ajo tacos or hongos and rajas con papas if you are vegan.

Attilia Fattori Franchini is an independent curator and writer based in London. She is co-founder of the online platforms bubblebyte.org and Opening Times and contributes critical essays and reviews to publication such as CURA., Kaleidoscope and Flash Art International. Between 2013 and 2014 she has initiated and curated The Basement a programme in London dedicated to young, unrepresented artists. Liza Sylvestre was born in South Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her summers were spent climbing trees and her winters were full of snow and many layers of sweaters and jackets. Sylvestre's early life and adolescence was defined by a significant and progressive hearing loss. Communication became increasingly dependent on small details that she became sensitive to. This simple physical fact created a very distinct lens through which she processed the world, and continues to process the world. She moved to Miami in 2006 where she shares a home studio with artist Luis Diaz. Her paintings and drawings grow out of simple things: single marks, a gesture hinted at with an overlapping of color. They require both spontaneity and control and a belief that beauty hangs somewhere in the balance between those poles. Sylvestre also runs the blog Hardrainlight.
