New York / Gallery

Luhring Augustine did a good job of converting an old warehouse/storage facility into a blue chip commercial art gallery that stages four shows of contemporary art per year. Which means you can catch museum quality shows in an unlikely spot, away from all the Chelsea pomp, and it actually has friendly staff, instead of a cold gallerina sat behind a desk pretending to be on the phone.

I walk a lot; the best way to experience a city. So it's sometimes to do with the way places join up. This cast concrete letterform is a part of the Lycée's gateway. Each of the form's facets arrives at a different character, so six possible letters come from each cast object. I've never been inside the Lycée but always walked through this way up to the V&A, in order to examine again and again how each form works. The surfaces set the tone for the V&A and its incredible Ceramics floor, a perennial inspiration.

Paris / Museum

A quite special museum and soulfood in the 9th arrondissement packed with Moreau's work, who established and decorated it himself, so that his works could be gathered and displayed the way he wanted. He lived and worked there all his life long, and was ready in 1896… Two years later he died at the age of 72.

Kivik / Art Centre

There's a Sol LeWitt pavilion in the middle of a wheat field in Skåne, and it is part of the Kivik Art Centre. This centre sounds like a crafty old ladies thing, but it is not. It a lovely surprise of modern art with a sea view. Go there, look at art, pet the sheep and then go swim in the coldest sea of Europe - the Baltic.

U.E.B. Has a nice atmosphere, outside terrace, the daily newspapers to rea and kind staff. A lot of creatives work there on their laptops. PS They sell alcohol

Amsterdam / Place

At the Damrak on the daily journey between home and studio, my eye is continually drawn to the emblem that has functioned as a façade ornament on the corner of the Beurs van Berlage for more than a hundred years. In combination with the past function of the building - trade centre - and in relation to the present financial crisis, the timeless maxim gains extra significance: ‘Dis-pe-reert niet’ (‘Do not des-pair’).

Frederike Wetzels is a photographer and artist based in Cologne. She was born in 1988 in Itzehoe (Germany) and studied photography from 2007 - 2011 at the University of Applied Arts and Sciences Dortmund and the University of Plymouth (UK). Jessica Yatrofsky is a New York-based photographer, filmmaker and author, known for work exploring body politics, beauty, and gender. She received her MFA from Parsons the New School for Design and published her first photography monograph, I Heart Boy, with powerHouse Books in 2010 and her sec-ond photography monograph, I Heart Girl, in 2015. In 2017, she published her debut collection of poetry titled Pink Privacy. Jessica’s photographic work is part of the permanent collection with the Leslie Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art and the Musem of Sex in New York City. Her photography work has been exhibited overseas and her film work has been both televised and screened at film festivals internationally. Jessica’s writing has also been featured in publications such as Forbes and New York Magazine.

Stephan Würth is a photographer originally from Germany who grew up between Munich, Texas and California. He discovered photography at age fourteen during a family vacation in Spain; his favorite subjects were sun-bathing women on the Costa del Sol. In 2000, he enrolled in the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale to study photography, and after graduating, became a full time photographer. Some of his clients include Vogue (Latin America), GQ (UK, Italy and Germany), Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Esquire, Levi’s, AOL, Bonobos, Macy’s. In 2011, Stephan released his first book “Ghost Town” published by Damiani. Würth currently resides in New York City's West Village with his wife, Vanessa.
