London / Park

I love how much you are aware of the changing seasons out of the city; there are numerous beautiful forests around Hertfordshire to go for a run, a walk or have a picnic. One of the best destinations for a day out from London might be Northaw Great Wood. The main entrance is located on the Ridgeway, the B157 from Cuffley to Brookman's Park.

Milan / Bar

Wine bar serving a great selection of wines by the glass and bottle, alongside a selection of small plates. Lovely interior and friendly staff. Booking suggested.

Vilnius / Cafe

My favourite place to have a great cup of coffee. CROOKED NOSE & COFFEE STORIES are coffee enthusiasts and coffee product creators based in Vilnius. At their coffee house they freshly roast micro batches of different world beans and invite to taste them with various tools in their brew bar.

Shanghai / Cafe

A decent coffee stop for urban cyclists and people feel connected to the community. The variety of house blend speciality coffee is as good as the the line-up of the fancy bikes at the doorstep:-)

Vienna / Cafe

If Dogs Run Free is a great place to have coffee or a cocktail or both. It is located between Naschmarkt and Museumsquartier and always worth a stop. It has a calm and cool atmosphere. They also serve some great homemade sandwiches. They offer a small but great selection of drinks and at night it is usually packed. It is designed by two architects and the ceiling installation is changing every year.

Oslo / Shop

Strangest second hand store in Oslo, run by two blind elderly ladies, and only open on Mondays and Thursdays. The store is tiny and crammed, you can do a scoop, but the prices are fairy unpredictable, the ladies have a very independent pricing-system.

Istanbul / Gallery

The Arter gallery is one of the galleries that I like to frequent the most. The building was renovated in the past few years and has four floors of exhibition space. It always features the leading national artists and introduces contemporary international artists to the city.

Madrid / Area

Going out in Chueca, the gay neighborhood of Madrid and grab a beer in the bars around is fun. One of my favorite programs is going to tranvestite´s concerts there.

Porto / Architecture

Wonderful space with diverse exhibitions, gardens, and superb architecture. A lovely place to go to spend the whole day.

Los Angeles / Street

Built on Carroll Avenue in the late 1880s, this is a short walk to look at these old houses. There is the Thriller house from Michael Jackson clip on the 1345 Carroll Av

São Paulo / Restaurant

A great mix of izakaya restaurant and cocktail bar. Great cocktails and good food - lack of good vegetarian options though. Great place for architecture lovers.

New York / Market

The Chelsea Market is filled with great restaurants and speciality food stores and pop up shops. I love stopping in and getting a gourmet grilled cheese from Lucy's Whey or a healthy juice from raw food restaurant One Lucky Duck, while shopping for dinner ingredients at the Italian market Buon Italia. For a great sit down restaurant, I love The Green Table, which serves great farm to table food.

Aubrey Nolan is a cartoonist and illustrator based in Brooklyn, New York. She is currently writing and drawing her first full-length graphic novel, Listen Along with Izzy McKenna, forthcoming from Rocky Pond / Penguin Teen. Her comics and illustrations have been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, Medium, The Nib, HuffPost, The Stranger, and more. Her work appears in Votes for Women, a comics anthology about the fight for women’s suffrage, and in the humor anthology, Send Help! She is also a teaching artist at The Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and has led comics workshops and talks for several universities, as well as AOC’s Homework Helpers program. My work is an ongoing exploration across media, ranges from performance, drawing, painting, and photography. In my artistic practice, I contemplate about the role of materials, various media, the body, and performative elements in the process of mark making gestures. I am interested in expressing ideas about how the notion of identity, displacement, and memory are held in the body. I develop performative methods that break down boundaries between various disciplines. Through Inter-media performative practice, I incorporate the body as a material, object, and subject. I utilize the camera as a tool to capture and record my studio and staged performances, as well as activating time, space and light with body movement.  I'm interested in the complexity of performative documentation, and the potential of both traditional and new advanced media in these representations.
