Reliably divey, with an ample back patio, ill-advertised punk shows and the occasional appearance of dollar oysters.

Vibrant place for lunch / dinner, high level street food, Urban vibes. Cozy during winter and a large sunny terrace during summer. Highly recommended!

London / Cafe

Although my skating days are now over, Stockwell Skatepark located just behind Brixton Academy is one of the reasons I moved to Brixton. It’s an excellent place, lumpy and hectic but totally friendly with decent Portuguese coffee and cakes just next door.

Lawrence / Cafe

It recently moved to a space where the ambiance is quite different, but everything on the menu at Milton's is truly delicious. It's definitely been my favorite place to have breakfast and take visitors to since I moved to Lawrence.

Amsterdam / Museum

The Bartolotti is perhaps one of the most beautiful Museum Houses Amsterdam has, built by someone who once was the richest man in the city, but it's a bit hidden in plain sight. These days, it is run by a group of lovely old ladies, who can't wait to offer you tea or juice. You can walk around the house like you live there. You have to ring the doorbell to get in. Brussels / Restaurant

Great food, great place, fine wine. Fresh fish and seafood that always surprises in a very nice setting.

Margate / Restaurant

Recently opened, great quality food and wine. Great spot for lunch. Run by the same people as Angela's. The menu at Dory’s depends on the daily catch. It is smaller plates, with many raw, cured and pickled seafood and vegetables.

London / Park

Stockholm / Restaurant

Lovely food with whatever the season offers in the restaurant but also got a connected bar and nightlife events. The yard is a great spot to spend summer evenings and it always has a friendly vibe.

New York / Place

I love where I live. I work from home so I’m in my space so much. It’s where I do yoga and cook and make music and art and have friends over. It’s just a really good place for me and the energy is amazing. I love having Williamsburg and all my friends immediately outside my front door.

London / Cinema

A small, independent cinema with a lot to offer the Brixton wanderer. As well as operating like you would expect a converted theatre-to-cinema to, Ritzy offers exclusive, niche film viewings, two bars and an upstairs live music venue. All of which provide an amazing platform to be 'culture-slapped' into shape.

Oslo / Restaurant

Almost definitely the best kebabs in town. They have a newspaper article on the wall that claims that a guy that lives about 8 hours away travels into Oslo just to eat their kebabs☺. Smells a bit funny outside sometimes though…

On my free time, I write poetry and film scripts (currently working on a script about my families immigration story and escape from a civil war). My work has been recognized at award shows such as Cannes, D&AD, One Show, ADC and the FWA, and featured in publications such as Fast Company, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.

Matthew Brandt (b. 1982, Los Angeles) received his BFA from Cooper Union in 2004 and MFA from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2008. Interested in physicality, process and landscape, Brandt’s ability to stretch the readings of an image, multiplying them both physically and conceptually, speaks directly to his interest in how images loom and meanings shift within a shared visual history. His work is the clever manifestation of a photographic alchemist, satisfying the urge for the tangible, and grounding us in the present. Brandt’s precocious talent has landed him in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Armand Hammer Museum (Los Angeles) and the Elton John Collection. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

Since 2012 Pieter runs a one-man studio in Antwerp, Belgium. Together with his partner, Pieter curates a small space for art & design called Rosewood.
