Yes, you can get the best baklava you've ever had here (the owner trained with "the Baklava master" of Aleppo, Syria as a child), but they have so much more, from stuffed dates to shawarma to falafel. Don't visit without trying one of their teas. Voted one of Bon Appetit's best new restaurants in 2019!

Cape Town / Museum

I have always been passionate about Natural History. The collections in this museum are extraordinary. Founded in 1825 this is the oldest museum in sub-Saharan Africa, includes the only preserved specimen of the extinct Quagga and ridiculously beautiful diorama’s of the Karoo. I don’t believe any natural history collection can be compared with another, this one is old and decaying and quite perfect...period.. If I’m ever short of inspiration this is where I’ll go.

This independent cinema near Angel in North London is over 100 years old and has had several lives including hosting early Sex Pistol gigs. It now serves as my favourite place to watch films (along with the Rio in Dalson).

Stafford / Lake

In 1936 George Orwell described Rudyard Lake in one of his diary entries as ‘very depressing’. Today though, I can confirm that it really is a lovely place, with a fascinating display of lakeside cabins and boathouses—more reminiscent of something you’d see in New England than the Midlands. The most popular thing visitors do is set themselves the goal of walking full circle around the lake, which is about 4-5 miles and takes around 2 hours.

Best art book shop in town with a great selection! It is run by graphic designer Jurgen Maelfeyt and has a little gallery where there have interesting shows.

After studying fashion she began her career assisting John Galliano before working in the fashion industry as a designer, illustrator, creative director and tutor. Verhoeven’s own fashion label, Gibo by Julie Verhoeven, was launched in September 2002, and she went on to collaborate with global brands including, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Mulberry and H&M. Verhoeven has exhibited internationally since 2003, including solo shows at MU, Eindhoven, ZINGERpresents, Amsterdam, and Vera Gliem, Cologne with the publication of 3 books dedicated to her work, 'A Bit of Rough’, 'Fat- Bottomed Girls’ and 'Julie Verhoeven, Gas Book 13’.
