It's Oslos most popular sledging slope. It’s existed since 1900 and is 2000 metres long with a fall of 255 metres. You can rent a sledge at the top and my record down it is about 6 minutes. There’s no better place for making you feel like a little kid again!

An die Musik is an incredible place. It is a smaller venue--the general admission seats are cushioned and seem like ones you might find in a family friend's living room. They specialize in jazz (especially local jazz, from younger Baltimore folk), contemporary classical, and avant-garde formats. The tickets are inexpensive--especially for students, of which there are many in the surrounding area (Peabody, Baltimore School for the Arts, etc.). The impression one gets as an audience member is that some kind of secret is being uncovered, or that a quiet experiment is underway, and the findings are immediate, spontaneous, and elusive. Always interesting music, a small crowd, low-volume, familiar faces, etc.

The Cable Car is a gem. Cozy little theater with couches! Even better, you can have a beer and a turkey sandwich while you are watching the movie!

If you're around Verbier or any of the nearby 4 valleys, and if you're in to ski touring, drop out the backside from Mont Fort and get ready for your life's hike. This mountain landscape is absolutely breathtaking and the snow is fantastic. Although, make sure you're fully geared up for the backcountry, have read the weather and avalanche reports and that you go out with a good team that you can trust. Ski to live another day!

Jos Buivenga can be passionate about a lot of things. He loves to paint, listen to music, brew an almost perfect espresso... but nothing challenges and rewards him more than designing type. If ever he was stranded on a desert island he would still draw alphabets in the sand, even if there was no one else to see them. He is the founder of exljbris, the one-man Dutch font foundry through which he releases and offers his typefaces. For 15 years, his online friends and fans could follow the development of his typefaces and download the results at no cost. In 2008, while still working as an art director at an advertising agency, he released his first commercial typeface Museo with several weights offered for free. That strategy paid off and Museo became a huge bestseller. Partly thanks to that success he now calls himself a full time type designer. All photos by Jos van Roij
