Newcastle / Library

The Lit & Phil is a library pretty much unmodernised since it was first built in 1825. It has a wonderful reading room and a tunnel between it and the equally stunning Mining Institute next door. Many great speakers and thinkers have past through these doors including amongst many others John Betjeman & Oscar Wilde. Maybe some of that greatness will rub off on me if I spend enough time amongst the dusty books....

Brighton / Shop

I love the smell of this bookshop. On my first visit I felt like an explorer making a major archeological discovery. There is a basement, which you get to via a spiral staircase. I am convinced that behind one of the floor to ceiling books shelves is a secret room that opens up by sliding out a secret book from a shelf.

Krakow / Park

Good choice for a long walk along Vistula river.

London / River

It paces a Londoner's life. When the tide is low I like wandering on the "beach" and discovering tunnels that take me to the centre of the Earth.

Paris / Sport Centre

Of course you saw it on the web already, but go play there!

New York / Restaurant

Paris in Brooklyn, etc. I have to try hard not to say 'Garçon.' But either way, 'monsieur' would be more appropriate; proper French waitstaff, proper French food.

London / Museum

Eccentric and surprising house and museum of architect Sir John Soane. Mostly unchanged since his death over 180 years ago, it is full of atmosphere. Also have spotlit, late night openings.

New York / Club

Webster Hall is a solid venue, and a frequent stop for many great bands on their rise to glory. If you've only got a few nights in the city, chances are a great act will be playing here.

Munich / Bridge

I'm partial to this spot because I lived right across it for over a year and owe several beautiful evenings to it. Grab a beer or a gluhwein (depending on what time of the year you've landed here) from either of the two kiosks, each at the ends of this bridge, walk from the side closer to humboldtstrasse down to the river and read a book, cycle along the river, have a picnic on a lush green spot with friends or just bask in the sun. Or do none of these and soak in the view from the bridge.

This place is very good. Korean inspired diner food. Get the Breakfast Burrito with Sausage, Honey Butter Pancakes, Chicken Katsu. The mushroom burger is very good too.

He held his first solo exhibition "BORN IN JAPAN [F*** you, I won't do what you tell me]"24 Feb to 29 Feb 2012 in Tokyo. He likes Ai Wei Wei a little bit.

Barry Stone makes pictures in the forms of photographs, drawings, collage, and paintings. Born in Lubbock and raised in Spring, Texas, he currently lives in Austin with his wife and two girls after a brief six-year stint in Brooklyn, New York. His work has recently been shown at Art Palace Gallery, Houston, and is represented by Klaus von Nichtssagend in New York. Barry is the coordinator of the Photography Department in the School of Art and Design at Texas State University-San Marcos.

Jan Hakon Erichsen is a Norwegian artist who works within a variety of media focusing on topics like fear, anger and frustration. He has spent several years perfecting a D.I.Y aesthetic with found objects being the main source of work material. Erichsen has exhibited widely in Norwegian and international galleries and partaken in numerous international video festivals after he finished his education at the National Academy of Arts in Oslo. Pekka Kuivamäki is a ceramist and designer who is currently finishing his MA degree in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture (ARTS in short) in Helsinki. He is inspired by functionalist architecture and design and artists such as Kazimir Malevich and Donald Judd. Lately he has been working with subjects such as playfulness and multifunctionality and how they can together create meaningful design.

Daniel originally from Portsmouth moved to London just over 3 years ago. He works in a variety of mediums. His recent work consist of setting up structures for drawing that encourage chance to determine the form, this excludes him from making any aesthetic decision. By using this conceptual logic he creates a system in which a process is started, continued for an undetermined amount of time, then finally stopped by the rule that birthed it. This thinking is also expressed in his photography which depict the unintentionally created forms of various other processes.

Prior to her MFA in Graphic Design at California Institute of the Arts, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Design in Seoul.
