The workshops at the Gem Palace are a true fascination to me. Here you can witness the processes from rough stones being delivered to the final steps of cutting, faceting and polishing as well as setting and making. But what I admire truly is the shapes they can create sometimes losing up to 70% of a stone to create a dome for a pair of earrings.

Good Luck is a restaurant/bar offering cuisine made from seasonal, local ingredients, and craft cocktails in an industrial loft space with an open kitchen. For me it is my first choice for casual elegance in Rochester. One of the three owners, Chuck Cerankosky is a good friend and a fellow industrial designer who trained in the program which I now run at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

My favorite bar! Loud Rock N' Roll all week, cheap covers, delicious beers in bottles and on tap. The Outland is usually packed on Fridays and Saturdays, but during the week it is pretty relaxed. Its a great dive bar with a beautiful history, and great decor.

A French and American dual-citizen, Margaux is definitely Parisian, but shares a bit of her heart with the Big Apple as well. She’s a songwriter, a singer, a musician, a photographer and a muse. Much more than your average clothes-horse, she’s the kind of girl all photographers and designers want to work with. Her simple yet elegant taste does not betray fanciful creativity of her aristocratic heritage. After the 2013 release of her French album with Capitol Records, she’s coming back refreshed with the ability to collaborate with the people she loves without any restriction to express herself freely.  www.margauxavrilphotography.com

Born in 1990, Antoine Duruflé grew up in Paris. In his studies, he went through the famous illustration section of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. Yet his work is closer today to the field of painting. Color is an integral part of his pictorial identity. The attraction for this one, was revealed by its practice of the image printed in screen-printing workshop. She carries it gradually in a surreal nature, which blurs the clear lines of the illustration. The fictional universe that he builds tightly binds him to the realm of music that calls him to create visuals close to a certain fantasy and a utopian world.
