The Christmas light House in the Bronx is a neighborhood fixture that is hard to miss. It is decorated year round with life size statues and is painted  bright pink. Though it draws most of its audience during the holidays it is an anomaly throughout the seasons. Such a bizarre place with such exuberant colors and vibrancy attracts an artists eye and will draw you in.

Hotter than hell, but always a good night had. It can be whatever you want it to be - restaurant, pub, or club, has good outside space and rentable rooms, and plays an interesting mix of music to an interesting mix of people. The building is actually kinda beautiful too.

Nice place in summer for drinks and food. Close to the water as I prefer it. Music and nice dancing if the company is right.

This theater was built right before the Great Depression, turned into a mutliplex at one point in time, set to be demolished then volunteers got together to restore/preserve it. It's entirely run by volunteers, they do screenings about once a month as well as some live events, I saw Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile here. There's no other theater like it in the NYC area. They have a fully functional pipe organ. It's hard to get people across the river to visit, but everybody I've convinced to do so has come back for additional screenings. The last thing I saw was a double feature of "Vertigo" and "Mulholland Drive," both in 35mm.

Behind Markfield Beam Engine is the River Lee which travels from the Chiltern Hills all the way to the Thames via Tottenham Hale. There is a special light along this stretch of the river possibly due to there being about 10 massive reservoirs behind the levee on the other side of the river, offering an amazing sense of space. A great place to walk, cycle and feed the ducks, swans, geese and coots.

When it comes to food, Miami can be really fussy and expensive. Being from Los Angeles I've been spoiled with amazing and affordable Japanese food. The Japanese Market is a little difficult to locate at first. It is on the ground floor of a nondescript office building in North Bay Village. Although it's small compared to it's California counterparts, the market meets most of your Japanese culinary needs. You would never expect by the size and location of the sushi bar to have such delicious food, but as they often say, looks can be deceiving.

Café Breizh will hit the spot if you’re in the mood for a crêpe. Which in my case, is often. They’ve got them in spades, along with savoury galettes and buckets of cider. Mmmm. It was a popular spot so get in there early. The reason it made my favourites was the delicious (organic) fare. But more importantly (for me anyway) the lovely staff who brought my kid an extra plate with a sweet, for her toy ‘Doggle’. So Café Breizh—you’re ace. I would have taken some more useful pictures but I was distracted by the ‘Timbres Papiers Timbres’ tile typography outside.
