One of the great things about Edinburgh is its abnormally large number of gardens and open spaces, including seven hills in and around it. A walk up this particular one on a sunny day is really pleasant. To the North you can see over the city to the sea and to the South you can see right in to the dark depths of the Scottish countryside.

The Panathenaic Stadium, also known as the Kallimarmaro Stadium, is an ancient stadium located in Athens, Greece. The stadium was originally built in the 4th century BC for the Panathenaic Games, a major athletic and cultural festival held in Athens every four years. The stadium was renovated in the 2nd century AD, and later underwent extensive reconstruction in the 19th century, based on its ancient design. It was used for the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, and has since been the venue for the marathon finish line in all subsequent Olympic Games held in Athens. The Panathenaic Stadium is made entirely of marble and has a capacity of approximately 50,000 spectators. The track is 204.07 meters in length and 33.34 meters in width, making it larger than a standard modern Olympic track. Today, the stadium is open to visitors, who can take a tour of the site and learn about its history and significance. The stadium also hosts various cultural and sporting events throughout the year, and is considered one of the most important landmarks in Athens.

I only made my first visit to Troy Bar fairly recently but it's already become a Friday night regular, and I feel like I've wasted a lot of nights not being here. Caribbean food, 4 Red Stripe for a tenner, an incredible house jazz band and as good an atmosphere as you'll find in the city.

Ryan Koopmans (BA, MFA) is a Dutch Canadian photographer interested in the built environment and the societies that are shaped by those environments. Born in Amsterdam (1986) he was raised on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, completed his undergraduate education at UBC in Vancouver, and in 2012 received a Masters of Fine Art in Photography, Video & Related Media at The School of Visual Arts in New York City. His undergraduate degree in the interdisciplinary practices of geography, art history, and psychology formed the basis for his interest in architecture and the communities living in that architecture. Koopmans is primarily drawn to photographing surreal structures in our world’s megacities and urban landscapes. Formal qualities in their geometry, repetition, and saturation help him illustrate what he terms ‘the poetry of form in interesting locations.’ In essence, his work documents the points of intersection where the natural and manmade converge. He credits his upbringing on Canada’s rugged West Coast, where distances and vistas are vast, as to why he often photographs from a removed perspective, embracing a large sense of scale. Currently based in Stockholm, Sweden, the majority of the year Koopmans travels around the world for both personal and assigned photography & video projects. Please see www.sirenforever.com for his advertising photography.

I am an Illustrator and Graphic Designer in Brooklyn, New York. I was born in Calcutta, India and studied Electrical Engineering in college. After working for a decade as an Engineer as well as an Analyst/Programmer in Information Technology, with a not so secret passion for Architecture and Interior Design, I changed careers to find a job that was "more creative" and fulfilling. I went back to school in New York City to study and subsequently work as a graphic designer. Currently, I am pursuing Illustration full time out of my studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
