Poblenou in the district Sant Marti, it means "new village" in Catalan. This area of Barcelona was mostly factories, today it is a modern residential area which is home to the @22 Barcelona hi-tech business district. Is one of the most overlooked areas in they city, and in my opinion has many great things to offer.. run-down in parts, but very open with tons of light and close to the beach, Poblenou is perfect for anyone who wants to live a slightly more quite lifestyle but also have complete and easy access to the craziness of the city centre.

Casa de Luz is a macrobiotic cafeteria nestled behind a learning center, a series of alternative medicinal practices, and yoga studios. I like to go there in the summer after a swim at one of Austin's spring-fed pools, Deep Eddy or Barton Springs.

This neighborhood is my home. Since I moved here 2 years ago there has been so much improvement in the area. I am walking distance from the art supply store, gourmet beer, korean barbecue, and every major freeway. I am the perfect distance from everything without being in the metropolitan epicenter. Image taken at Wurstkuche.

It might not look like it, but Ponta Verde beach is placed right in front of a avenue with intense traffic all day. But it doesnt really matter as long as you can stay watching the sea - and wonder why you're in a car when you're supposed to be as much wet and tanned as this place allow you to.

One of my all time favorite shops. They have amazing succulents at reasonable prices. It's always a pleasure to stop in and see what they've got that day. Ched, the owner, is not only extremely knowledgeable but totally hilarious. Every plant has been personalized and anthropomorphized.

Liza Sylvestre was born in South Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her summers were spent climbing trees and her winters were full of snow and many layers of sweaters and jackets. Sylvestre's early life and adolescence was defined by a significant and progressive hearing loss. Communication became increasingly dependent on small details that she became sensitive to. This simple physical fact created a very distinct lens through which she processed the world, and continues to process the world. She moved to Miami in 2006 where she shares a home studio with artist Luis Diaz. Her paintings and drawings grow out of simple things: single marks, a gesture hinted at with an overlapping of color. They require both spontaneity and control and a belief that beauty hangs somewhere in the balance between those poles. Sylvestre also runs the blog Hardrainlight.
