This second hand market covers the whole center of the city, starting on Saturday evening and ends on Sunday in the afternoon. Initially I was attracted by the nighttime-atmosphere of the event, but in recent years the 'après' May-market, when heaps of abandoned junk are left in the street afterwards became more of my interest than the market itself.

In a city with such a big presence of historical landmarks, the fact that the contemporary museum is housed in the former city jail seems rather ironic—a lounge bar is also quite fittingly located on the jail's patio. Conserving most of the old elements from its former use, the space is always worth visiting, even if it's only to interact with this wonderful permanent installation by Mona Hatoum. If you want to try something outside the city center this is a really beautiful small gem. They cook delicious seasonal food and have a nice selection of cheese and charcuterie for your wine. Best to book table beforehand.

This restaurant has a lot of great reviews and recommendations so we, a party of 9 gave it a try and it did not disappoint! Was very delicious, well prepared and fresh food. The veggie option, which I tried - was banging a tomato sorbet with burrata mousse and zucchini noodles - carpaccio was also next level as was the octopus. It was all so good. I would highly recommend you go if visiting the area.

My favourite bar of the many around kreuzkölln is Bellman. After its sudden closure and reopening it underwent some changes and is boycotted by some of its former patronage, but for the less principled like myself it’s still a good place to go and they do pull the best Jever in Berlin.
