Café Breizh will hit the spot if you’re in the mood for a crêpe. Which in my case, is often. They’ve got them in spades, along with savoury galettes and buckets of cider. Mmmm. It was a popular spot so get in there early. The reason it made my favourites was the delicious (organic) fare. But more importantly (for me anyway) the lovely staff who brought my kid an extra plate with a sweet, for her toy ‘Doggle’. So Café Breizh—you’re ace. I would have taken some more useful pictures but I was distracted by the ‘Timbres Papiers Timbres’ tile typography outside.

Founded in 1825 this is the oldest museum in sub-Saharan Africa, includes the only preserved specimen of the extinct Quagga and ridiculously beautiful diorama’s of the Karoo. I don’t believe any natural history collection can be compared with another, this one is old and decaying and quite perfect...period.. If I’m ever short of inspiration this is where I’ll go.

A really friendly one with amazing food (and a unusually large veggie selection…) is the Beehive in Epping Green; close to the Great Wood. It's friendly enough you dare going there by yourself with the paper and are not at the mercy of local rubbernecks ("the rubberneck" = person who stares at strangers without any sign of guilt)
