It is a big room furnished with dark and massive-wood chairs, a good number of billiard tables, and walls full of random objects and portraits. Everything is nice about it. And especially the deep atmosphere created by this mix wood and the green light reflected by the billiard carpet. If you go there early in the morning you get a large coffee served on a Formica plate with a biscuit. Before 11a.m., it seems to be just a quiet Tearoom where only grannies meat for a Bretzel. But the first players arrive, and by the end of the afternoon it full. It’s quite a joy full place and you can always get a chance to play a round.

These colourful Peranakan terrace houses along Koon Seng Road is probably the most photographed place in the eastern part of Singapore. I get to enjoy this view every morning on my way to work - of both the architecture and its admirers, which are mostly tourists. Joo Chiat is indeed a very charming place. Besides being a heritage conservation area, this place has an eclectic mix of the old and the new. Old school eateries sit alongside hipster cafes and ice-cream parlours, while KTV and bars are nestled amongst boutique hotels and design studios. Most importantly, Joo Chiat is also well-loved by the locals for its wide array of good food, from the famous Katong Laksa to herbal Bak Kut Teh and Nonya Kuehs.

The Barbican Estate is a residential estate that was built during the 1960s and the 1980s. An icon of Brutalist Architecture the Barbican Estate is an unique and complex real life experiment; a city within a city. The main focal point of the estate is the lake and its neighbouring terrace. High above and behind the terrace is the Barbican Centre, the largest performing arts centre in Europe. I really rate their visual culture exhibitions (for instance, Jean-Michel Basquiat and the Bauhaus) and live concerts (Nils Frahm and Ryoji Ikeda). Love it!
