This is one of my favorite bars in Manhattan. It has a courtyard in the middle and they only serve a large selection of Belgian beer. It's always dark with red lights so it's like a giant darkroom with everyone developing hangovers instead of film. The courtyard creates a front bar that is open on the weekends, so if you get cornered talking about architecture you can escape over to the front bar and watch people walk down 4th street.

A former bait and tackle shop taken over by a metal sculptor and BMXer in partner with a local doctor who turned it into a haven for community, creativity and good eats. You can come here, grab a coffee and a fresh tamale, answer emails, bump into five people you know, and grab some eggs from a local farm on the way out. It's the kind of relaxed, cheerfully odd place that seems to thrive in this odd bubble of the liberal American south.

My walk through the Heath often continues on to the Camden Arts Centre, a really fantastic exhibition space that runs workshops and courses as well as having a great café and bookshop to boot. I collect their exhibition booklets called File Notes - beautifully designed by James Goggin and Sarah De Bondt - some memorable shows include Eva Hesse Studiowork, The Bruce Lacey Experience and Serena Korda’s Aping the Beast. The latter concluded with a procession from the gallery up to the Heath, culminating in a re-enactment of The Battle of the River Plate in a pond. This is my photo of the Beast and the Boob Meteorite.

Claudia’s work is based on her personal experience as a heterosexual woman in modern world dating, and her view on female sexuality along with humour and sarcasm. Behind her colourful cartoon-based images, there is always a simple message or a lighthearted joke. The caption is a very important element to the imagery because she believes a piece of good work is not only visually interesting, but it also needs to serve a purpose.
