Palmenhaus is a café, brasserie and bar inside a 1901-built greenhouse located in the Viennese Hofburg palace gardens. You can enjoy your coffee unter the massive steel structure on the light-filled inside of the greenhouse or – during summertime – on the outside terrace overlooking the Burggarten gardens.

By far the best bagels in London, they are open 24 hours and being just down the road from my flat a bit too local. It is run by a man called Mr Sammy, who doesn't muck about with portion size. It is well worth a visit especially for their smoked salmon and cream cheese speciality.

Go before 11am on a Sunday and you won't have to wait. Fun place to take your parents when they're visiting from out of town.

Berlin / Bar

A good place to drown your Berliner winter-melancholy. The bartenders are top notch and the interior is warm but stylish, with the inevitable retro vibe. Open from 6 till late. There´s also a legendary (and kinda expensive) restaurant next door, which provides the bar with some excellent snacks. Works for dates and for friends, but if you´re planning for a bigger group it might be wise to reserve.

A really fabulous art gallery located within Sage College campus. A nice airy, huge space, thoughtful exhibitions featuring a diverse group of contemporary artists. The openings are fun and usually free. Keep an eye out for their pop-up Biergarten events in the spring and fall.

Rotterdam / Creative Space

varia is a space for developing collective approaches to everyday technology. varia is an association whose members organize events and collaborate in work groups. varia is around 90m2 and has a 100/35mbps connection. varia works with free software, provides a set of tools. varia figures things out as she goes, tries to keep notes and is bilingual.

Prints, artist editions and various printed ephemera to buy and to look at. A wonderful place.

Paul was born in Melbourne, Australia and currently resides in New York City. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has been featured in T: THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE, the PARIS REVIEW and FORBES. Barbera has turned his long term online passion project Love Lost Project in to an ongoing series of publications with the first limited edition book was available from Dashwood Books in New York and through KK outlet in London. His previous book release, Where They Create, is available globally and now Where They Create Japan.
