I'm a British artist living in LA

Born 1983 in Mainz (Germany), lives in Berlin (Germany). He was raised in Sao Paulo (Brasil) and Mainz (Germany). After finishing high school, he attended university. Initially studying architecture, he changed focus and ultimately completed his Bachelor in Fine Arts in 2014 at the Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule and has since participated in several international shows. He has lived, travelled to and worked in South America, Europe, South East Asia, Western Africa and North America. Thomas Friedrich Schaefer had the opportunity to observe different social and familial environments within distinct communities. Since moving back to Germany, he has tried to assess his memories and his past within his images. He recently finished a long-term photographic project creating and documenting elaborately staged environments that play on the essence of fragmented childhood memories. The project required him to construct staged rooms using technical skills which he obtained early in his studies while studying architecture and engineering. Thomas continues to stage images in his studio in Berlin. His work includes hyper-realistic sets that provide the narrative framework to moments of interpersonal relationship. What seem like irrelevant and forgettable moments take on an importance and poignancy.

Marc Martin is an illustrator based in Melbourne, Australia. Working with watercolour, gouache, pencil, and computer, his work is a world of dense colour, rich textures and the odd scribble. Xoana Herrera is an Argentinian director, designer and illustrator based in Los Angeles, CA, she finished her studies in the University of Buenos Aires. She loves to find ways to create simple solutions, she gives a huge importance to color, shapes and loves create characters. She defines her style by the delicate use of geometric shapes to create joyful characters and colorful backgrounds. Before landing in LA, she worked for a number of different studios in both Argentina and Europe. Her passion for illustration and her exquisite taste makes her one of the most promising artists in the motion graphics world She currently works as an Art Director with the amazing and talented people at Buck.

I am an observer. Through digital and analogue photography, still and moving images, I explore the potential ground that exists between fine art and documentary photography. Drawing inspiration from various conditions of the reality around me, from the great interest in the modern, dynamic art scene but also from my personal experiences, I believe in the power of images to convey the emotions, truths and challenges of modern reality. Having spent the majority of my life away from my motherland, I often return to the theme of homesickness and belonging in my artwork. My approach to picture making is to present ordinary, non-idealised, never staged reality. Such practice is the formulation of an interest in things as they are. By using only one lens which is the most similar to a human field of view, I am capturing the moments and non-moments that drag my attention. I am a sentimental and nostalgic artist and the camera is the best tool to anchor oneself to memories and emotions that are constantly fleeting. My work starts with a strong interest in the moment, light or a situation. The process of looking begins before taking a photograph and continues afterwards. Selecting pictures, printing, making connections, framing or setting up an exhibition space, all of it seems connected to the way of seeing. I immerse myself in the medium fully and utterly.

Carolin Wanitzek is an independent scenographer and set designer from Germany. She designs three dimensional installations using various materials. Working in the field of scenography she blends graphic design, set design and photography to develop concepts for extraordinary worlds. Her work is published in digital media, magazines and catalogues. She also constructs designobjects which appears in interior design and public places. Currently she is working for national and international clients like Hewlett-Packard, Vodafone, Spiegel Verlag and the BASF and is partner at OUI R Creative Studio.
