There are plenty of food outlets and restaurants along East Coast Road but this one in particular is my favourite. An old-school eatery with absolutely no-frills, from the interior to the food they serve. They only sell Niang Tou Fu (primarily tofu and vegetables stuffed with ground meat mixture or fish paste) here which is only SGD 70 cents per piece and sour plum drink, both homemade I think. Would highly recommend the crispy deep fried beancurd and add the chilli paste if you like it spicy. Do not expect top-notch service here though, after all its no-frills.

I love visiting places that offer a totally different idea of urbanity and experimental concepts for urban (mass) housing. The Wohnpark Alterlaa, built from 1973–1985, is such a project. Hop on the subway to get there and I recommend that you take an extended walk through the area and the surrounding park.

It's such an iconic building and it's always a joy to be anywhere near it. It just dominates the landscape around it. Ever since I first saw the cover of Pink Floyd's Animals I've loved it and I still do. There are always reports in the news for plans for developers to spend billions on refurbishing it. I'd genuinely prefer it to remain as it is rather than see it being turned it into a massive shopping centre full of chain stores. The thought of it being turned into some kind of Westfield full of people on Facebook on their laptops in a Starbucks fills me with rage.

I didn't expect much from NAMOC when I first visited to be honest, but most of the exhibitions I've seen here have blown me away. Themes have varied from the art of Chinese shadow puppetry to abstract paintings from Taiwan, and even socially responsible design.

Los Angeles-based artist Eric Yahnker seems to have a very odd and dark sense of humour which is reflected in almost all of his works of art. His mixed media and collage masterpieces combine traditional and classic images with some twisted humor and caustic wit. He received his B.F.A. in animation from the California Institute Of Arts and studied journalism at University of Southern California. Eric Yahnker lives and work in Los Angeles, California.
