Austin / Restaurant

One of the best places in Austin for some uncomplicated Tex-Mex nestled in the old growth heart of Austin's charming Hyde Park neighborhood. Great chicken soup, enchiladas, or Mexican Martinis and perfect atmosphere. Ideal for porch sitting and people watching. Cash only, but there's an ATM on premises.

Montreux / Street

The beach walk along Rue Du Lac between Clarens and Montreux is a real beauty. It's filled with early 20th century Art Noveau architecture, statues, parks and of course, the magnificent backdrop of the Swiss alp mountains. If you go skiing in the alps, a day trip to Montreux is definitely worth the time! But make sure to bring your own picknick, the prices at the restaurants along the beach walk are unreasonable.

Paris / Restaurant

After a long day exploring Paris, a huge plate of noodles is basically the dream. Le Chef Thai is small and cosy, although I think they have a downstairs too which we didn’t see. It’s really relaxed inside and filled with plants so there was a nice calming energy. The guy that served us was super-friendly and we all had an excellent feed for a reasonable price. Happy days.

Frankfurt / Bar

A kind of Asia. A really good combination: a cold beer and a hot soup.

São Paulo / Bar

Favorite cocktail bar in São Paulo. Cozy atmosphere, superb drinks, and friendly staff. If possible, go there early and sit at the counter for the best drinking experience and chat with the friendly bartenders.

London / Shop

The fantastical shop front for the children’s literacy charity, the Ministry of Stories – which offers one-to-one writing tuition for local kids. The shop sells ‘Bespoke and Everyday Items for the Living, Dead and Undead’, including Thickest Human Snot, Compacted Earwax, and Tinned Fear. (And all their products make perfect presents for humans.) All proceeds go to the charity.

Carrboro / Shop

An awesome place that's a combination gas station, convenience store and countrystyle gourmet restaurant – they even have a biodiesel pump stocked with diesel made from recycled restaurant fry fat and a deep wine selection.

Amsterdam / River

The Amstel river is the main river of Amsterdam. Around 1200 they build a dam in the river and that was the birth of Amsterdam (or Amstelredamme as it was called back then). This dam is now situated under the Dam square, the central square of the city. If you bike from the old city center to the south along the banks of the Amstel, as I do every day on my way to my studio, the city opens up and gives way to a lot of space. If you follow the river it will take you out of town more quickly then you'd expect since it is surrounded by a green corridor that get's larger and greener as you exit the city. In less then half an hour bike trip from the old city you can find yourself in juicy green pastures between grazing cows and sheep. Only the airplanes heading in and out of Schiphol Airport will remind you that the city is near.

I struggle with eating out in Vancouver, generally I prefer the burrito style places like Bandidas Taqueria on Commercial drive or Budgies Burritos on Kingsway, because they can keep it mellow and hassle free. Pronto is a new one, it has a great Italian coffee bar from the 60’s vibe.

Barcelona / Cafe

Granja Dulcinea was born in 1941, one of the most emblematic chocolatiers of Barcelona, founded by Juan Mach and Elvira Farràs.

Jessica Sarah Rinland is a filmmaker based south of London. She also works part-time as a projectionist in the city. Khyati was one of Print Magazine's 15 New Visual Artists under 30 in 2017, was chosen as the Artistry Creator of the Year at Adweek’s Creator Visionary Awards, won the ADC Young Guns 19 and most recently, made it to the Forbes 30under30 India List.

Prior to founding her own studio, Elisabeth Mestdagh studied design and visual communication in Antwerp, Ghent and Berlin. She trained with Base Design, assisted Paul Boudens and spent a year at Baron & Baron in New York City where she worked on projects for clients such as Dior, Maison Margiela, Nars and The Metropolitan Museum. A longing for the other, as well as encounters with the uncanny, inform the photographic language of Yuri Andries. The artist works both close to home or travels miles away to explore unknown territory. His images are characterized by a deliberate use of color and a keen sense of the graphic. They evince a serene aesthetic and a search for stillness. They hover between dream and reality, between reality that is not the truth and fiction that is not a lie. Yuri Andries holds an MA in Graphic Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. During his Graphic Design studies, he developed an interest in photography, fascinated by the medium’s tense relation to reality and its function both as a documentary medium and a means to stimulate the imagination. Since 2016, he focuses on his own photographic projects which have been published in National Geographic, GUP Magazine, Ignant and Aint-Bad, among others.
