Matsue / Hotel

It is an inn with a view of Lake Shinji from the room. The cuisine you can eat in the inn is very delicious!

The street vendors in Jogja, the "bakul" draw attention by the sounds they produce: every kind of food is announced by the sound of an object. A sound of a spoon on a plate is "rujak" (fruit), a cow bell is "satay", a spoon on a bowl of noodles is "bakso ayam". The sound of boiling water "putu" (coconut cake) and a cart with a loud speaker with LOUD "dangdut" music is "getuk" (cassava cakes). The latter is indicative of a trend: traditional sounds are gradually taken over by electronically amplified sounds.

Andrew Tarlow's Diner is a neighborhood institution and pioneer of gratuity-free establishments in Brooklyn. This place serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner in an old converted dining car under the Williamsburg bridge. A seasonal menu of fresh, New American style food that changes daily.

Ottawa / Market

As a child in Hong Kong, I was always mesmerized by all the glass and mirrors and the way they created this illusion of space. My favourite were aquariums with seahorses in them. Kowloon Market in Chinatown satiates my aquaphilia with their fish tanks, while also satiating my appetite for freshly bonked fish cleaned and ready to be steamed.

Burlington / Shop

Ribbecke's atelier is one of Vermont's precious art spaces. Stained Glass is designed and made with care and love. I often walk by there to peek at his latest designs.

New York / Gallery

Great gallery space in Brooklyn/Bushwick with oftentimes pop-up-exhibitions like the picture above during the opening of @preludeprojects

New York / Transport

Coming back from from New Haven, we got off at Grand Central and he took me down one of the concourses to the place with the vaulted ceiling. He stood at one corner and I stood at another and we whispered into the walls, our voices drifting across to each other.

Zürich / Lake

Zurich is at its best in the summer, when swimming becomes part of the daily agenda. There are a variety of great places along the river Limmat, most of which are free and open to the public. When it gets too crowded at these, try to find one of the few hidden places along the lake.

Taipei / Cafe

When I am in London, I don’t miss Taiwanese food, apart from breakfast. It’s kind of interesting. All the breakfast shops in Taiwan look exactly the same, selling exactly the same type of food, and usually, it tastes slightly different, but most of them are fantastic! There are millions of options, from sandwich, egg roll, spaghetti (Yes! Spaghetti for breakfast!), hamburgers…etc. And for each type food, you can choose from, bacon, ham, eggs, sweet corn, chicken, pork…etc. You can also mix with two, three or even more. On top of that, it takes you less £1. My favorite is egg roll with bacon and cheese, yummy!

Leeds / Community Centre

This venue has been a host to some of the best underground nights in Leeds and of course by day it is a community centre. I don't know how to put it to words what makes this place special to me, it just is. Subdub which used to be hosted at the WIC had a vibe like no other. The Iration Steppas sound system is one of the loudest sound systems I have ever encountered. If you ever get the chance to go to a SubDub, make sure you take a pair of earplugs.

I moved to Oslo 11 years ago, where I worked as Harbourmaster at the Royal Norwegian Yachtclub until starting studying. I haven’t really found any nieche yet, but I enjoy trying to incorporate feelings into my work and trying to design an experience instead of just a product. I’m very inspired by my surroundings. I suppose I’m on some kind of creative journey at the moment, but I don’t really have a clue what I’m doing or where I’m going to end up. I use humour as a defense mechanism, worry too much and cry when I watch soppy movies.
