The Greenwich Observatory with its green laser beam can transfigure any night sky. If you decide to cross the Thames via the foot tunnel, make sure you look out for the green ray. You can be on one side of the meridian in a minute, and cross to the other side on the next, without even realising it.

Located near to the Alamo square's Painted Ladies is this wonderful gothic "stick" Italian villa with a long weirde history. Built by a Candy Baron in 1889, it's housed variously; a Russian Czarist nightclub, Jazz musicians, Satanists, a Manson family member, and one of the first 60's Hippy communes -Calliope. Creepy as hell enshrouded in fog after dark.

Meadow Mountain is a sweet little spot for ski or snowboard touring, paragliding and snowmobiling in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. The skiing down is quite mellow so it's a good option when the snow pack in Colorado is still unstable or when you're a beginner at ski touring. Pack a backpack and trek all the way to the hut where you can camp for the night. Then, ski down the mountain again the day after.

Quietly located in the residential area, a walk to Avec Toi - a French bakery in the hood and Text & Image has been my favorite morning walk course. The bookstore features a tasteful selection of publications in literature, design, photography art and more. Both the size of the space and the collection is less overwhelming. Good enough to encounter an inspiration or new addition to my shelf.

A longing for the other, as well as encounters with the uncanny, inform the photographic language of Yuri Andries. The artist works both close to home or travels miles away to explore unknown territory. His images are characterized by a deliberate use of color and a keen sense of the graphic. They evince a serene aesthetic and a search for stillness. They hover between dream and reality, between reality that is not the truth and fiction that is not a lie. Yuri Andries holds an MA in Graphic Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. During his Graphic Design studies, he developed an interest in photography, fascinated by the medium’s tense relation to reality and its function both as a documentary medium and a means to stimulate the imagination. Since 2016, he focuses on his own photographic projects which have been published in National Geographic, GUP Magazine, Ignant and Aint-Bad, among others.

His work, including sculpture, photography and video, is often characterized by a kind of pseudo-science or homespun natural phenomena. "When one settles down to a new home, they immediately set out to discover those things which captivate and hold meaning for them. I moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1999 and twelve years later, I'm still writing my own personal travel guide of the city's unlimited attractions and temptations."
