As a child I looked forward to wander through the magic forest of 'the Efteling', the amusement park is located in the forested area of Tilburg. Nowadays I find more inspiration in the forested surroundings itself. The appealing security reveals its secrets less explicit and the atmosphere remains mysterious. This is where feeling prevails, and fairytales come to life. You can reach the forested areas on a 10 minutes ride on your bike.

The Red Lion Tavern has been a neighborhood tavern in Los Angeles for over fifty years (which is a long time for L.A.), and continues to serve as a landmark for traditional German food, a wide selection of German beer, and cozy Old World atmosphere. Plus the waitresses all wear lederhosen, and it's blocks away from my parents' house.

Santa Croce piazza is a cultural hub. This massive square hosts a variety of events from concerts (for all you George Michael fans) to German Christmas markets, in addition to it’s beautiful history-inside and out. To drop some names, venturing inside its ancient walls, one will find the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Ghiberti and the false tomb of Dante. This photo depicts the annual German Christmas market where you can indulge in mulled wine, the best fucking sausages of your life, ornaments, and countless hand made crafts.

Mannheim has a lot to offer and you will notice that culinary diversity is very important here. The restaurant is centrally located in the squares. The interior is modern in design, with a great deal of attention to detail and a relaxed atmosphere. I love  the extraordinary culinary concept: all dishes are vegetarian or vegan. The concept of the shop is based on the Californian burritos. This means that you can have a quick lunch in the Burrito Baby without losing too much time. Nevertheless, the Burrito baby is not a fast-food restaurant.

My favourite place in Auckland. They set up telescopes in the courtyard on clear nights so you can see the planets and moon.

The Abbey Library of St.Gall is the oldest library in Switzerland. Around 160,000 books and manuscripts from the 8th to the 20th century are held in these beautiful rococo halls.

The most insane natural wine bar i've ever visited. Sano san knows well the value of Biodynamic and natural wines, he has a little cellar at 11 C where you can find gems opened up to 1 year before. The atmosphere and the way Sano treats his wines and his guests will change your perspectives. The kitchen is also delicious.

Part of the Marlow restaurant group, Diner is one of the more casual / rustic options. The menu changes daily and is written out (most likely upside down by the wait staff) on your table or the back of a receipt. The only constant item is the burger, which to be honest, is one of the best in the neighborhood. If they have a breakfast sandwich for brunch, get that. The fried chicken sandwich (with dark meat) is also a favorite. They make scrambled egg dishes better than most. Dinner is solid all around (they crush a steak for two). Homemade ketchup and dijon mustard are on every table, so regardless of what you get, these two condiments are worth the visit. 

I love the George and Dragon Public House. Cluttered deco of silly artifacts and memorabilia and slightly scuzzy around the edges. Great drinking characters, DJs and The White Cubicle gallery in the ladies toilets is difficult to beat.
